How can you choose a qualified company to clean your carpet, rugs or upholstery when their are litteraly hundreds of companies to choose from. It is not as hard as you might think, but you must do your research. Here are a few things that you should check before hiring a company.

  1. Are they insured?
    Make sure that they carry liability business insurance.
  2. What method do they use?
    The most commonly used method is steam cleaning. Ask what method they use and if your carpet is under warranty, check with your manufacturer. They might require the use of a certain method, steam cleaning in most cases.
  3. Do they use subcontractors?
    In general, you want a company where the owner does all of the work or that uses employees.
  4. Do they offer a guarantee?
    A legitimate company should offer some kind of guarantee. 7 days at the minimum. Most will offer a 30 day guarantee though.
  5. Do they have any references?
    Ask them for a list of references who will vouch for their work.
  6. What does their price include?
    You are not necessarily looking for the lowest price. You just want to make sure that the price you are quoted includes everything that is needed for a basic cleaning. Vacuuming, pre-spray, general spot cleaning, extraction, etc.
